Non-Representational Art in Andalucía

This historic hillside village, a historic town in southern Spain, approximately 45 minutes’ drive from Granada, is the stimulating setting for this creative getaway. Participants of all abilities – including novices – will be taught how to plan and create non-representational pieces. A portion of the time will be spent outside, working on structured activities out in nature. These charcoal drawings and paintings will then be worked on in the studio, with guests creating a number of interpretive scenes in acrylic paint to be shown in the village. Participants has sole use of the venue, which is built around an open courtyard and has a sun terrace with views over the hills. The price encompasses five days of art instruction; full board; and an excursion to the local castle and additional local sights.

Vegetarian Cooking in the Algarve

This Mediterranean culinary holiday, set on a villa by the river in the central Algarve, is inspired by the vegetarian dishes of celebrated cooks. Attendees will master the art of selection of small dishes, take part in a hands-on falafel session, refine mid-morning meals such as shakshuka, and make hearty mains such as spicy mushroom ragu and moussaka. There are trips to the local market and a local vineyard to taste local vintages, along with free time for strolls by the nearby river, to unwind on the deck or take a dip in the pool. The villa, a former farmhouse, has multiple rooms, as well as glamping tents in the grounds.

Street Dance in High Wycombe

Hip Hop Don’t Stop is an energizing, inclusive weekend adults’ street dance camp in High Wycombe. The format each day is a high-energy warm-up session, followed by several hour-and-a-half classes teaching various street dance styles, then an 60-minute jam to demonstrate new moves. Participants are divided into levels according to ability and experience, so it is suitable for those who are brand new to street dance, right up to advanced dancers or instructors. Maritime Singing Break in St Ives

St Ives is the ideal location for a maritime music retreat. Participants will be taught traditional shanties from a folk singer and vocal coach, and try their hand at composing original ones. The schedule includes vocal warmups, breathing exercises, stagecraft advice and a final evening concert. The holiday is based at a country house overlooking St Ives Bay. All meals are included, such as a Cornish cream tea on the first day, breakfast options, lunches to go and three-course dinners. Grog, alas, is not included. Writing in Crete

Writer and tutor an experienced instructor conducts the daily workshops on this writing retreat. He covers everything from plot, characters, setting and tension, to submitting work to agents. A co-host, the bestselling author Kate Mosse, will co-host special sessions at the beginning and end of the retreat. The holiday is held at a village-style hotel in Vamos at the foot of the Lefka Ori – ten one- and two-bedroom cottages surround a central garden with a pool (companions are encouraged to come along). Beginners' Apiculture in Wales

A leading eco-centre near Machynlleth runs a host of courses covering sustainability: from creating habitats to upcycling. It is designed to produce “ecologically mindful beekeepers”.
