The teenager Mohammed Ibrahim was fifteen years old at the time of his arrest this past winter in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, during a family visit from his Florida home accused of stone-throwing against settlement residents, allegations he repeatedly contested. The US state department said it welcomed the teenager's freedom. Mohammed, now 16, needed medical care upon gaining freedom, relatives told the media. They said he is pale, underweight, while battling health issues acquired while detained. Through an official statement, Mohammed's uncle expressed the family's "tremendous relief". The uncle, Zeyad Kadur stated the family experienced "surviving a terrible, unending nightmare" over the last nine months. "Right now, we are focused on ensuring Mohammed receives urgent medical care he needs after being subjected to harsh conditions and cruel circumstances for months." The state department said it would continue to extend consular services for the Ibrahim family. {"American leadership considers paramount than the safety and security for United States citizens"," officials stated. Twenty-seven US lawmakers submitted a formal letter to the state department and the White House, urging greater action to release him. Mr Ibrahim, with four children operating an ice cream shop from Florida, previously said his child admitted guilt regarding stone throwing because the soldiers beat him. He had not seen or communicated with his son since the arrest, and only heard about his son's condition in detention through court documents. Mohammed was held lacking indictment at Ofer detention facility in the West Bank. The facility also contains mature inmates, featuring prisoners sentenced regarding severe security violations including killings. An estimated several hundred young Palestinian detainees detained within Israeli facilities, based on prison authority data. Numerous remain uncharged along with monitoring agencies, including UN bodies, document cases involving mistreatment and torture. Following Mohammed's release, Mr Kadur said the family would also continue fighting seeking justice for their relative Sayfollah Musallet. This young American-Palestinian who the Palestinian health ministry said succumbed to assault by Israeli settlers during a confrontation in July.
