British boxer Anthony Joshua Released from Hospital in Nigeria Following Deadly Road Accident

Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, officials in Lagos announced on Wednesday evening. The 36-year-old was part of a serious road collision outside Lagos on the 29th of December, a tragic incident that took the lives of two of his team members.

Recovering from Minor Injuries

The boxer had been under observation while recovering from minor injuries, representatives stated earlier on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on social media that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to leave and heal privately.

“Joshua and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two departed friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” the official remarked.

Remembering the Victims

The two men who died were identified as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. Omotoso added that the athlete was heartbroken and overcome with emotion over the loss of his two trusted companions.”

The news of his discharge comes as the sports world shared its support for the champion in the wake of the heartbreaking incident.
